Discover the magic of Morocco’s Sahara Desert with our 2 Day & 1 Night Desert Trip in Merzouga from Fes to Marrakech. This trip offers an unforgettable experience of scenic beauty, cultural exploration, and unique desert experiences, all while ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable ride despite the long drive.
Our adventure begins in Fes, where you’ll be picked up and travel through the charming city of Ifrane, often referred to as the “Switzerland of Morocco,” before heading to the renowned cedar forests of Azrou, home to playful monkeys. As we continue, we’ll pass through winding mountain roads, and picturesque villages, offering plenty of opportunities for breathtaking photos. After a break in Midelt for lunch, we’ll make our way to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara.
Upon arrival in Merzouga, we’ll embark on a camel trek across the towering dunes of Erg-Chebbi, reaching the desert camp just in time to witness a spectacular sunset. The night will be spent in a traditional Berber camp, where you’ll enjoy a delicious dinner, listen to local music around the campfire, and sleep under the vast desert sky.
The next morning, we’ll wake up early for an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes, then ride the camel back to the vehicle for our journey to Marrakech. As we travel through the famous One thousand Kasbahs and the High Atlas Mountains, we’ll be captivated by the stunning scenery.
After a lunch stop along the way, we’ll arrive in Marrakech in the evening, concluding this desert adventure.
This 2 day desert trip offers the perfect opportunity to experience Morocco’s natural beauty, rich
culture, and the tranquility of the desert, all while traveling in comfort and style.
Fez / Marrakech
Our team will come to escort you to begin the tour at 8h00 from your accommodation. This marks this exciting adventure’s beginning, and one of the main first stops on the way will be the city of Ifrane; best known as the “Switzerland of Morocco”. Afterwards, we’ll continue our adventure to the most anticipated stop of “Azrou”; a Cedar forest that houses thousands of monkeys.
We’ll continue our drive while appreciating the panoramic views we pass through on the road until we reach Midelt and take a short break for lunch. Once finished, we’ll head back on the road through beautiful forests, springs, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as we descend towards the Sahara desert.
This drive will include several short stops for resting and taking pictures at panoramic views that overlook the huge oasis of palm trees. Arrival at Merzouga will be around 17h00 where you’ll find your guide and camels waiting for you after your rest to begin your camel trekking adventure across the sandy dunes of the Erg-Chebbi and arrive just in time to watch the sunset.
After around an hour of trekking, we’ll head towards the desert camp to spend the night in your Berber tent after you freshen up and get ready for dinner.
During dinner, we’ll get to enjoy some Saharan Folklore music at the campfire under the shining
stars and end the day.
After you wake early in the morning, you’ll get the opportunity to take a stroll over the sand dunes and watch the sunrise just behind the Algerian border, which is about 50 kilometers away from Merzouga.
After you get ready and finish breakfast, you’ll go back on the camel ride to reach the vehicle. Our departure towards Marrakech will pass through the famous road of One Thousand Kasbahs and the High Atlas Mountain.
Please note that it will be a direct transfer from Merzouga to Marrakech with no stops except for lunch. We’ll reach Marrakech in the evening to conclude our trip.
